Ayrshire Timber Works · Est. Kilmarnock
Turn up when you say you will. Measure twice. Keep the place tidy. Tell people the truth about what their house needs, and do the work well enough that it’s still right in twenty years. That’s how we’ve built our name across Ayrshire, one kitchen, door and deck at a time.

An outdoor room built for Scottish evenings: a covered deck with slatted timber screens and lights set into the roof, so it gets used long after the sun goes down.

Taken back to the bones so the new room could start square and level. A steel boxed in, a recessed ceiling framed and boarded, new doors hung, and a media wall with the cables hidden away.

Rot had got into the fascia and some of the gable boards. We cut out the damaged timber, let new boards in between the old and stained them to match, so you’d struggle to see where the repair was.

What we do
From a single sticking door to a whole new house. Small jobs are always welcome.

Fully fitted, from strip-out to the last worktop joint and kickboard.

Internal doors hung square, and hardwood or laminate floors laid tight with proper thresholds.

UPVC replacements fitted, and new openings formed for new windows.

New cladding and careful repairs, plus fascias, soffits and guttering.

Built for the Scottish weather, with posts set to last.

Whole-house renovations, timber frame and property development.
We also take on bathroom renovations, bespoke joinery, timber frame builds, commercial fit-outs and emergency repairs. If you’re not sure, just ask.

About us
David started out as a joiner, then spent a number of years in the prison service before coming back to the trade. It’s not the usual path, but it’s where the standards were set: honesty, reliability, staying calm under pressure and treating people with respect, especially in their own homes.
Today Ayrshire Timber Works is a small, close team. We’re the people who quote, the people who turn up, and the people who answer the phone when you have a question.
“Clear communication, fair pricing and making sure people feel comfortable in their own home are things we care about deeply.”
David, founder
A note on timber
Every timber behaves differently, indoors and out. Here are the ones we’re asked about most. Choose one to see what it’s good for.
Durability is the EN 350 rating for heartwood against rot, from 1 (very durable) to 5 (not durable). Figures are typical published values for guidance; every board is different, and we’ll always advise for your actual job.
